P.O.W. Diaries 1945 April 07 1945 J.H.Hallam Stalag VIIIB

Saturday 7 April 1945

Had a good nights sleep, quite a treat to sleep in a bed again. Everyhting has a damp, clammy feeling here, it also seems colder. Only had coffee issued to us as yet. Soup comes at three o'clock they say. Parcels are supposed to be waiting for transport to us. We have just had a brew of tea, with the last two crusts of bread. We got soup after walking about a mile to collect bowls, after 5 p.m. 1 litre per man. Say bread is coming up later. Fires are forbidden. We've had another brew all the same.
