P.O.W. Diaries 1945 April 09 1945 J.H.Hallam Stalag VIIIB

Monday April 9 1945

Wake up twice during the night. Roll call is over, and we're waiting for coffee. Humphreys is away; to the station I hope. Soup came up late as usual. We get one loaf to ten men now, more when we work. No news today. This is a hell of a camp, no water, nothing is organised, many men have not washed for days, lice and filth abound.Red Cross Parcels came up this evening late. One per man, how welcome they were.
