P.O.W. Diaries 1945 April 16 1945 J.H.Hallam Stalag VIIIB

Monday April 16 1945

Roll call 6.30 am. I slept fair in the night in spite of a terrific artillery barrage going on a few miles away. It is quite warm today. Dick and I have had a bath and a shave, also changed our shirts, we have found three or four lice so we must watch out. The barrage carries on. Soup was not bad at all today. Peter Simmonds gets us some spuds. We are lying in the sun this afternoon, just waiting for the war to end. I feel quite healthy. Hoping all O.K. at home.
