Thursday 19 April 1945

 

Sleep and wait, what a life. I feel a bit more than browned today. We had our bread and coffee early. Had to wait till 3 o'clock before our soup came up. Some news was given out but it was not so hot, we are only interested in two things, firstly something to eat then to get out of this country. Dick has queued up for hot water, we are not allowed fires. Roll on the boat. Trying to smile.

It has been announced today, that in the United Kingdom, the blackout will be lifted on the 23rd, except for a five mile stretch around the coast.
